Produced in 2012 by Simmons Sports Fishing and Simon Shimomura’s Fishy Business for the US Market, these were the last Ambassdeur 2500 series ever made. Featured in Teal with 24k Gold Plated Parts, these elegant little beauties are produced in 4 different models. They are,
a. Custom Teal Ambassadeur 2500CDL,
b. Custom Teal Ambassadeur 2501CDL,
c. Custom Teal Ambassadeur 2500CDL Special, and
d. Custom Teal Ambassadeur 2501CDL Special.
100 pieces of each model were produced and all of these came with 4.7:1 gear ratio, just the same as that of the classic years.
Two different versions are provided for these models and they are the (1) Standard and (2) Special Versions. The difference between the Standard and Special Version are the (1) Gold-Plated Twin Knob Handle, (2) Gold-Plated Level Wind and (3) the HighSpeed Sticker; with the Special Version sold exclusively by Simon Shimomura’s Fishy Business.
Collectors pay big money for these classic reels and the Special Version is often passed off without any of its additional parts. I have also seen seller sharing with their potential buyers that the ‘S’ indicated on the reelfoot refers to Simmon (which was not correct); and no add-ons were ever mentioned. This is dishonesty in my opinion.
